  5. 3/4 tsp Salt
  6. 1/2 tsp Haldi
  7. For Tadka -
  8. 2 chopped onion
  9. 7-8 chopped Garlic
  10. 1 pc chopped Ginger
  11. 1 chopped tomato
  12. 1/2 tsp Garam masala
  13. 1 tsp red chilli powder
  14. 1/4 tsp dry mango powder ( optional
  15. 1/2 tsp cumins seeds
  16. 1/4 tsp Hing
  17. 1 tbsp Ghee/oil
  18. 1 tbsp Coriander chopped

Steps to make to make Dal Fry

  1. Mix both the dal in a cooker & wash them 2-3times. Add 3 cups water & soak for 10mins.
  2. Add chopped tomato, chilli, salt & haldi to it. Pressure cook for 3-4 whistles on low to medium flame.
  3. Once the pressure releases… open the lid & whisk the cooked dal properly.
  4. In a kadhai add ghee, cumin seeds& hing.
  5. Then add ginger, garlic & onion to it.Sauté it for 2-3mins.
  6. Then add tomatoes & all the spices.Cook well.
  7. Add coriander & cooked dal to the kadhai.
  8. Let it cook for 5mins on low flame.
  9. Garnish with coriander. Serve hot with chapati or you can have it as Soup if you are following any weight loss programme.
